Verwenden einer KDE4-Live-CD

Anwender, die auf ihrem System KDE4 nicht fest installieren möchten, haben seit kurzem die Möglichkeit, eine LIVE-CD von openSUSE zu verwenden. Die Live-CD trägt den Namen KDE Four Live und beinhaltet alle Module der KDE 4.0 Alpha 1, KOffice 2 SVN und Amarok 2 SVN. Hier geht's zum Download.

Installation (zum Starten einzelner Programme)

Nach der erfolgreichen Installation der Pakete (z.B. per Yast/Smart):

1.) In der Datei /etc/ld.so.conf den Pfad "/opt/kde4/lib" eintragen (ohne den "")

2.) ldconfig ausführen

Zum Starten einer vollwertige KDE4 Session:

Warnung: Für diese Vorgehen wird dringend empfohlen, einen neuen User erstellen! Andernfalls werden die Config- Files von KDE3 höchstwahrscheinlich unwiederbringlich zerstört!

Vorgehensweise:

1.) Kopiere "/opt/kde4/share/apps/kdm/sessions/kde.desktop" nach "/usr/share/xsessions/kde4.desktop".

2.) Ändere den Namenseintrag in der gerade eben kopierten Datei (kde4.desktop) in "KDE 4", damit es als KDE 4 im KDM aufscheint.

3.) Füge die 4 Exportlinien (s. unten) in der Datei /opt/kde4/bin/startkde ein.

 export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/kde4/lib
 export KDEDIR=/opt/kde4
 export PATH=/opt/kde4/bin/:$PATH
 export KDEHOME=~/.kde4

4.) Hab viel Spaß mit vielen Abstürzen bei KDE4 (Codename Krash)...
